Netflix reality series 'Young, Famous & African' premieres at no.1

Netflix's first official original African reality series strikes gold and causes a stir on social media platforms. The reality show follows a cast of prominent African stars as they “work and play, flirt and feud" within Mzansis' city of gold Johannesburg.


Breakdown of cast and show:


The cast included the self-proclaimed queen of ‘gold-diggers’, actress and media personality Khanyi Mbau. Mbau gives fans a glimpse into a relationship with boyfriend Zimbabwean-born Kudzai Mushonga and causes a stir over parenting skills when revealing her 15-year-old daughter lives alone in an apartment.

One of the cast members that questions Mbau's parenting is a Nigerian actress and presenter Annie Macauley-Idibia. Annie does not miss her share of drama, tumult relationship with Nigerian superstar musician and entrepreneur Innocent Ujah ‘2Baba’ Idibia forms the focal storyline of the show.

Annie's conflict with castmate Tanzanian entrepreneur Zari Hassan 'Boss Lady' causes a rift within the friend group.

Zari is introduced to the show by castmate and ex- finance Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack popularly known by the stage name Diamond Platnumz. Tanzanian superstar recording artist Platnumz stuns the show with his flirty and flashy personality.

Platnumz flirtatious eye is caught by castmate hip-hop rapper and entertainer Nadia Nakai.

Nakai's long-distance relationship with American rapper Vic Mensa keeps


South African ‘Dj Naked’ Quinton Paul Masina's rocky romance with girlfriend and fellow castmate semi-professional soccer player Kayleigh Schwark takes centre stage. The radio personality known for dishing out relationship advice on Metro FM 'Ask A Man' does not shy away from showing his own relationship imperfections.


Andile Ncube South African TV personality and producer questionable romantic advances directed toward Zari.


Nigerian superstar stylist Jeremiah Ogbodo ‘Swanky Jerry' serves fashion looks and peace to the feisty group.
